Description

The Freeport is a large outdoor wall lantern with a white-finished metal cage frame surrounding clear seeded glass panels, designed as a porch or entrance light where coverage from rain is provided. The lantern measures 389mm high by 257mm wide with a 288mm projection from the wall, and houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) rated up to 60W.

Designed for covered outdoor locations such as front porches, back door canopies and garage entrance doorways, the Freeport carries an IP44 rating, which protects against splashing water from any direction but is not suitable for fully exposed positions that receive direct rainfall or hosing. The cage-style frame allows the clear seeded glass panels to be visible from multiple angles, creating textured light patterns when lit.

The white finish on the metal frame provides a neutral backdrop that pairs with painted clapboard, rendered masonry and timber fascias in both traditional and coastal-style homes. The seeded glass has a stippled texture that softens direct light from the bulb, reducing glare while maintaining clear visibility of the lamp itself. The metal construction is weather-resistant under covered conditions, with the white finish suited to regular dusting rather than high-pressure washing.

Frequently Asked

Can this be used in fully exposed outdoor positions?

No. The IP44 rating protects against splashing water from any direction, but the lantern is designed for covered positions such as porches, canopies and doorways with overhead shelter. Fully exposed positions that receive direct rainfall or pressure washing are not suitable.

What bulb does it take?

The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for porch lighting.

What is the projection from the wall?

The lantern projects 288mm from the wall once fitted. This substantial depth means the lantern sits clear of the wall surface and casts light forward as well as downward, making it visible from the driveway or path approach.

How is the white finish maintained?

The white-finished metal frame can be dusted with a soft cloth. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp microfibre cloth with water is acceptable. Avoid high-pressure washing or abrasive cleaners, which can damage the finish.
