Description

The Frana is a ceiling fan with light in one round fitting: a matt black cage wrapped in a woven band of natural rattan, with three smoked grey blades turning inside it and an integrated LED ring around its lower edge. It is 50cm across and 17cm tall, so it sits close to the ceiling rather than hanging down into the room. The ring gives 3,600 lumens from 28W, plenty to serve as the main light in a bedroom or living room. There is no IP rating for this fan, so we keep it to dry rooms indoors.

Bedrooms and living rooms are its natural home: one fitting that moves the air on a warm night and lights the room after dark, without giving up a ceiling light to make room for a fan. The pairing of natural rattan and matt black sits comfortably with earthy, relaxed schemes of linen, wood and soft neutral walls, and the woven band gives a textured, crafted look even when the fan is still. At a compact 50cm across, it suits a smaller bedroom as readily as a larger living room, and the slim 17cm profile keeps it out of the way overhead.

The body is ABS in matt black, with natural rattan woven through the black frame in two bands. The light is dimmable and its colour temperature runs from a warm 2700K to a cool 6500K, so the same fitting gives a soft glow at bedtime or a crisp white for reading. The fan has three speeds and is controlled by the remote, which comes in the box. It runs on 220-240V, 50Hz mains, carries energy class E and weighs 4.207KG packed. As a wired-in mains fitting it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download, so it is worth having them to hand before the day.
