Description

The Fragment is a 951mm wall light built around a vertical column of hand-cast resin figures in an aged gold finish, topped with a cylindrical fabric drum shade. Three sculptural figures — two faces and a full-length figure — are arranged vertically on a brass-finish stem between a circular backplate and the shade housing, each piece hand-painted to create a patinated aged gold appearance. The E27 fitting sits inside the drum shade, diffusing light through the fabric.

Designed for hallways, landings, bedroom walls and living room accent positions, the Fragment provides directed task light combined with a decorative vertical element. The 240mm projection from the wall and 147mm width give the fitting enough presence to work as a standalone feature without needing to be paired with a second matching sconce. The aged gold finish suits traditional, classical and eclectic interiors, particularly where warm metallic tones are already in use. The vertical composition draws the eye upward, making it useful in spaces where you want to increase the perceived ceiling height.

The sculptural figural elements reference neoclassical ornamentation and New Orleans French Quarter metalwork, giving the fitting a collected-object appearance rather than a mass-produced decorative piece. The hand-painting on the resin creates variation in tonal depth and patina, so individual pieces show slightly different levels of wear and highlighting. The drum shade is replaceable if you prefer a different fabric colour or texture, provided the replacement shade uses a standard E27 shade ring fitting.

The Fragment takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2700K to suit the aged gold finish and traditional styling.

Is the shade replaceable?

Yes. The drum shade uses a standard E27 shade ring fitting, so it can be replaced with any compatible drum shade if you prefer a different fabric colour or texture. The shade diameter should remain close to the original 147mm width to maintain proportions.

Can it be installed in a bathroom?

The Fragment carries no IP rating and is designed for interior dry locations only. It is not suitable for bathroom zones where moisture or splashing occur.

Does the aged gold finish vary between pieces?

Yes. Each figural element is hand-painted to create the aged patina effect, so tonal variation and highlighting differ slightly between individual fittings. This is a feature of the hand-finishing process.
