Description

The Fosil is a 2-light wall light built around two hand-blown frosted glass globes mounted on a satin nickel backplate with an integrated switch. Each globe houses a G9 bulb (sold separately) and diffuses the light evenly through the frosted glass, producing soft ambient illumination rather than directed task light. The 160mm projection from the wall gives the globes a sculptural presence without overwhelming narrow hallways or bedside spaces.

Designed for living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and lounge areas where ambient lighting and wall-mounted control are both useful, the Fosil suits modern and transitional interiors. The integrated switch allows the light to be operated at the fixture rather than from a wall switch, making it particularly suitable for bedside installation where a remote wall switch might be inconvenient. The 220mm width and 240mm height keep the fitting compact enough to flank artwork, mirrors or architectural features in pairs without dominating the wall plane.

The satin nickel finish on the metal mount provides a warm grey metallic tone that sits between polished chrome and brushed steel, pairing comfortably with cool-toned interiors and warm neutrals. The hand-blown glass globes show slight tonal variation between pieces due to the blowing process, with each globe presenting as a smooth, rounded form without visible seams or moulding marks. The fitting accepts dimmable G9 bulbs, allowing light output to be adjusted when paired with a compatible dimmer circuit.

At 1.3kg the Fosil requires secure wall fixings into masonry or solid timber rather than plasterboard alone. The 80W total power consumption (40W per bulb) allows for bright output when using halogen G9s, or more modest wattages of 4-6W when using LED equivalents. The 1-year warranty covers manufacturing defects but does not cover glass breakage from impact or user error.

Yes, when fitted with dimmable G9 bulbs and connected to a compatible dimmer circuit. The integrated switch on the fitting itself operates on/off only. Dimming control must come from the wall dimmer or circuit.

Can it be installed on plasterboard walls?

At 1.3kg the Fosil requires secure fixings. Plasterboard-only installation needs cavity fixings rated for at least 2kg per fixing point. Solid masonry or timber stud walls provide more secure mounting.

What does the integrated switch do?

The switch on the backplate allows you to turn the light on and off at the fixture itself, without needing to reach a wall switch. This is particularly useful for bedside installation or in rooms where the wall switch is inconveniently located.
