Description

The Forma Large is a 55cm pendant light built around a curved black metal mesh shade suspended from a glossy gold stem and ceiling rose. The shade itself forms an organic, kidney-like silhouette with a sculptural asymmetry, measuring 55cm wide, 46cm deep and 28cm tall. A single E27 bulb sits inside the mesh shell (sold separately, up to 40W), casting light through the open metalwork and creating shadow patterns on nearby surfaces.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and open-plan living areas with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher, the Forma works as both ambient lighting and a visual anchor. The adjustable cable allows the pendant to hang anywhere between 40cm and 150cm below the ceiling rose, giving flexibility to position the shade 70-80cm above a dining surface or 100-120cm above a kitchen worktop depending on room scale. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations only.

The contrast between the matte-finish black mesh and high-gloss gold metalwork gives the pendant a dual material presence without additional colour. The mesh structure weighs 1.12kg including the ceiling rose and stem, making it light enough to hang from standard UK ceiling roses on plasterboard ceilings without reinforcement. The open mesh allows heat from the bulb to dissipate naturally, so the fitting stays cool to touch even after extended use.

What bulb does the Forma Large take?

The pendant takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 40W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair it with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to complement the gold finish and create ambient light through the mesh.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable cable allows the pendant to hang 40-150cm below the ceiling rose. For a dining table, the shade typically sits 70-80cm above the surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. Lower ceilings can accommodate the pendant if the cable is shortened during installation.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating restricts the Forma Large to dry indoor locations only. It cannot be used in bathrooms, kitchens directly above sinks or hobs, or any outdoor location.

How is the mesh shade cleaned?

The black mesh can be wiped with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth is acceptable, but avoid soaking the metalwork and do not use household sprays or chemical cleaners that may damage the matte finish on the mesh or the glossy finish on the gold stem.
