Description
The Forleyet is a shallow decorative bowl in aluminium with an antique brass finish. Its whole surface is hammered into a rippled, pitted texture that catches the light from every angle. The outline is a loose, irregular round with a small fold in one edge, and the low rim keeps it close to flat, so it is an open, dish-like bowl. It measures 29cm long, 26.5cm wide and just 1cm high, and it weighs 0.5KG. As a piece of decor it belongs indoors, and that 1cm height settles its purpose: holding a few small things where they can be seen, rather than storing anything deep.
That shallow, open form makes it a natural catch-all for a hall console, where keys and loose change can land the moment you come home. On a dressing table it keeps rings, earrings and watches together, and on a coffee table or sideboard it gives a small cluster of objects a warm, textured base. It is not meant for food, so we suggest it for display and everyday odds and ends rather than serving. The aged brass tone sits comfortably beside dark wood, stone, linen and soft neutrals, and it brings a handmade note to a shelf or a bedside table without taking much room.
Every Forleyet is handmade, so every piece is unique. The hammered pattern, the play of light and dark across the brass tone and the line of the edge will differ a little from one bowl to the next, which is part of its charm. Aluminium is a light metal, and at 0.5KG the bowl is easy to lift and move between rooms. It is not dishwasher-proof, so keep it out of the dishwasher and treat the finish gently. Keep it indoors, give it a spot where it gets used every day, and let it gather the small things that tend to go missing.
