Description
The Forleyet is an acacia decorative bowl in a natural wood finish that lets the grain do the talking. It measures 30cm long, 27cm wide and just 2.5cm high, and it is a shallow piece, closer to a tray with a gentle lip than a deep dish. The rim is irregular and softly undulating, and the inside curves down to a wide, flat centre, which gives the piece a relaxed, organic look. Acacia is a dense hardwood with lively figuring, and here warm brown tones run in long streaks, broken by paler bands and the odd knot.
Because it is so shallow, the bowl works best indoors as a catch-all or a display piece. Set it on a hallway console for keys and sunglasses, on a dressing table for rings and watches, or in the centre of a coffee table with a few pebbles or dried stems. The warm wood suits natural, rustic and pared-back interiors, and it softens a painted or glossy surface nicely. It is not for food use, so we suggest keeping it for objects rather than fruit or snacks, and it makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who loves natural materials.
Acacia is a natural material, so every piece is unique: the grain, tone and exact outline of yours will differ a little from any other bowl. At 0.67KG it is light enough to move easily between a console, a shelf and a coffee table. The bowl is not dishwasher-proof, so keep it out of the dishwasher and give it a gentle wipe with a soft, dry cloth to lift dust. Treat it as a decorative piece rather than kitchenware and it will sit happily on show in almost any room of the house.
