Description
The Forleyet is a shallow decorative bowl made from acacia, left in its natural wood colour so the grain does the talking. Rather than a perfect circle, the rim is shaped into soft, irregular facets, which gives the bowl a relaxed, carved look and an outline that changes as you move around it. It measures 20cm across and just 1.8cm high, so it reads more as a low, open dish than a deep bowl, and at 0.41KG it is easy to lift and move from one surface to another.
We see it on a coffee table, a sideboard or a hall console, where it gathers the small things that otherwise drift around the house: keys, rings, a watch, sunglasses. It works just as well on a dressing table or a bookshelf as a quiet decorative piece in its own right, or holding a few pebbles or dried stems. The warm, earthy browns sit happily against white walls, grey fabrics, stone and linen, and suit anyone who likes natural materials in a room. As a decor piece it belongs indoors, and its low profile means it never crowds a surface.
Acacia is a dense hardwood with a strong, varied grain, and this bowl shows it well, with dark streaks and small knots running across the surface. Because it is a natural material, every piece is unique, so the pattern and shade vary a little from one bowl to the next, and yours will carry its own markings. It is not for food use, so keep fruit, bread and snacks for another dish, and it is not dishwasher-proof. Give it keys, jewellery and keepsakes to hold, and keep it well away from the dishwasher.
