Description

The Maytoni Focus T is a recessed LED downlight with a 15.1cm cylindrical drop and a tilting head that allows the 6W 3000K light source to be angled after installation. The fitting is constructed from matt black aluminium and sits flush with the ceiling via a recessed mounting flange, leaving only the black cylinder visible below the ceiling line.

Designed for accent lighting, the Focus T directs a narrow beam of warm white light onto specific surfaces or objects rather than providing general room illumination. The adjustable head tilts within its housing, allowing light to be aimed at artwork, architectural details, kitchen worktops, or reading positions without needing to adjust the ceiling cut-out. The 3cm diameter cylinder keeps the fitting visually discreet in rooms with low or standard ceiling heights where a larger downlight would dominate.

The integrated 6W LED produces 3000K warm white light and is rated for 30,000+ hours of operation, which translates to around 10 years of typical use before the light output degrades. The matt black finish on the aluminium body absorbs reflected light rather than casting glare, making the fitting less visible when lit. The IP20 rating limits the Focus T to dry indoor environments — it is not suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor installation.

The integrated LED driver is compatible with mains-voltage LED dimmers, but dimmer performance depends on the specific dimmer model. Test with your chosen dimmer before completing installation across multiple fittings.

What ceiling cut-out size is required?

The recessed mounting flange requires a cut-out diameter of approximately 50-55mm. The exact dimension is in the installation manual linked in the Downloads tab. Minimum ceiling void depth is around 160mm to accommodate the 15.1cm drop plus driver housing.

Can the head be adjusted after installation?

Yes. The cylindrical head tilts within its housing, allowing the beam to be angled towards walls, surfaces or objects without needing to reposition the ceiling cut-out. This makes the fitting useful for accent lighting where the target position may change.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the Focus T is only suitable for dry indoor environments. For bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor installation, choose a downlight with a minimum IP44 or IP65 rating.
