Description

The Focus S is a compact cylindrical downlight wall fitting in matt black aluminium, measuring 52mm diameter by 100mm height. The fitting mounts on a circular backplate and directs light downward from a single GU10 bulb (sold separately), housed inside a recessed aluminium cylinder with a clear glass lens at the base.

Designed as accent lighting for hallways, stairwells, corridors and above doorways, the Focus S casts a controlled pool of light onto the wall or floor below. The 10cm projection from the wall keeps the fitting compact enough for narrow passageways while the directional beam highlights architectural details, artwork hung low on walls, or provides wayfinding light along corridors without spilling glare at eye level. The IP20 rating limits use to dry interior spaces.

The die-cast aluminium body is finished in a low-sheen matt black that absorbs ambient light during the day and disappears against dark-painted walls. The fitting accepts any standard GU10 LED, halogen or energy-saving bulb up to 10W, allowing choice of beam angle (narrow spot or wider flood) and colour temperature to suit the application. The 220-240V AC rating covers standard UK mains voltage and the fitting wires directly into a junction box or through-wall cable run.

What bulb does it take?

The Focus S takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 10W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a GU10 LED between 4-7W in either warm white (2700K-3000K) or cool white (4000K) depending on the application.

Can it be used outdoors or in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable only for dry interior locations. It is not rated for bathrooms, outdoor use or any area where moisture is present.

Does the light shine upward or downward?

The Focus S is a downlight only — light is directed downward from the base of the cylinder onto the wall or floor below. There is no upward light component.

How is it mounted?

The fitting mounts on a circular backplate that fixes to a standard junction box or directly to the wall over a through-wall cable run. The backplate is approximately 80mm diameter and requires two fixing points.
