Description

The Maytoni Focus is a single recessed spotlight with an integrated 12W LED at 4000K, housed in a cylindrical matt black aluminium body. The LED sits behind a honeycomb mesh reflector that directs a 50° beam angle downward, providing directional light for task areas, display shelving, or accent zones where ceiling height allows recessing.

Designed for commercial and residential spaces that need adjustable task lighting without surface-mounted fittings, the Focus suits retail displays, gallery walls, kitchen worktops, office desks, and hallway feature zones. The 158mm cylinder depth requires a ceiling void or false ceiling with at least 160mm clearance above the plasterboard. The unit fixes into place using spring-loaded mounting clips that grip the ceiling aperture once pushed through.

The matt black finish on the visible rim and cylinder provides a low-reflectance surface that sits flush with white ceilings without drawing attention away from the lit area. The 4000K colour temperature sits in the cool white range, delivering a neutral tone that suits task-focused spaces and modern interiors rather than warm ambient environments. The aluminium construction dissipates heat passively, so the unit runs without a visible cooling fan.

The integrated LED is rated at 12W on 180-240V AC mains, providing consistent output without requiring separate driver boxes in accessible ceiling voids. The IP20 rating limits the Focus to dry indoor installations — it is not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor soffits, or damp zones without additional protective housing.

Frequently Asked

What ceiling void depth is required?

The spotlight measures 158mm in height, so a minimum 160mm ceiling void or false ceiling depth is needed above the plasterboard for the unit to fit. The 52mm diameter aperture is cut into the ceiling surface.

Is the LED dimmable?

The integrated LED operates on mains voltage without a separate driver. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model and whether it supports LED loads at this wattage. Contact us before pairing with a dimmer to confirm compatibility.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating limits the Focus to dry indoor spaces only. Bathrooms require IP44 or higher for zones around baths and showers, and IP65 for shower enclosures. The Focus is suitable for hallways, kitchens, living rooms, offices and retail spaces where moisture is not a concern.

What is the light output and beam angle?

The 12W LED at 4000K provides a cool white directional beam with a 50° scattering angle. This suits task lighting over desks, worktops and display areas rather than wide ambient wash lighting. Exact lumen output is not specified in the manufacturer data but typical 12W LEDs at this colour temperature deliver 900-1100 lumens.
