Description

A hook plate is one of those small parts that quietly makes a pendant possible. This one is flat, narrow and finished in galvanised metal, and it is supplied in twos, so there is a spare in the drawer for the next job. At 70mm long it stays discreet overhead, and the slim body keeps the whole thing tight and unfussy. There is nothing electrical about it: it simply gives a suspended flex or chain a hook to hang from.

We reach for these when a pendant needs a tidy hanging point above a dining table, in a hallway, or over a stairwell where the drop has to be held in place. They also earn their keep on festoon-style runs, where a flex is carried across a ceiling in several places rather than dropping straight down. Anyone building a light from parts, rather than buying one finished, tends to want a holder, a length of flex and something to hang it from, and this is the last of those three.

The galvanised coating gives the plate a hard-wearing, workmanlike character and shrugs off the dulling that kitchens and utility rooms can cause.
