Description

The Flarestar is a 500mm diameter glass pendant light combining a clear outer drum shade with eight G9 bulb positions arranged around cascading strands of cut crystal droplets suspended from a polished chrome canopy. The dual-layer structure places the crystals inside the clear glass envelope, so reflections and refractions bounce between the inner droplets and the outer smooth glass.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and open-plan living areas with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher, the Flarestar provides both task and ambient light. The eight G9 bulbs (sold separately) sit behind the crystal cascade, casting light through the droplets and outward through the clear glass drum. Dimmer-compatible when paired with dimmable G9 LEDs, allowing adjustment from bright task lighting during meal preparation to softer ambient settings in the evening.

The clear glass drum measures 500mm in diameter and approximately 250mm deep, with the chrome canopy adding a further 100mm above. The combined glass and metal frame weighs around 3kg when fitted with bulbs, requiring secure ceiling fixings into a joist or ceiling rose rated for suspension loads. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations only — bedrooms, dining rooms, lounges, hallways — not bathrooms, kitchens within splash zones, or covered outdoor areas.

Each crystal droplet is individually threaded onto fine metal wires that hang from the central chrome support, creating the cascading effect visible through the glass. The polished chrome finish on the canopy and internal frame reflects both the crystal and the bulb light, multiplying the brightness and adding a decorative shimmer when viewed from below.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the fixture is not protected against moisture ingress and must only be installed in dry indoor locations away from direct water contact or high humidity zones. It is not suitable for bathrooms, shower rooms, or outdoor covered areas.
