Description

The Flarestar is a 400mm pendant light combining a smoked glass dome outer shell with an internal cluster of five G9 bulbs surrounded by cascading crystal spheres on chrome wires. The outer dome is curved glass with a reflective chrome band around the aperture, creating a lens effect that multiplies and diffuses the light from the internal crystal arrangement.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and central living room positions, the Flarestar works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher where the pendant can drop 600-900mm above a surface. The five G9 bulbs (sold separately) can be halogen or LED, and the fitting is dimmable when paired with compatible bulbs and a trailing-edge dimmer. The smoked glass softens the brightness from the internal cluster while the chrome band reflects light back into the room, giving both ambient and decorative function.

The crystal spheres inside the dome are arranged on tiered chrome wires, creating a three-dimensional structure visible through the curved glass shell. When lit, the spheres act as individual refractive points, scattering light across the interior surface of the dome. The IP20 rating limits the Flarestar to dry indoor locations only. The fitting carries a five-year manufacturer warranty from Ideal Lux.

The Flarestar takes five G9 capsule bulbs, sold separately. G9 bulbs are available in halogen (typically 28W-40W) or LED (3W-5W equivalent). For best results with a dimmer, use dimmable LED G9 bulbs from the same manufacturer to avoid flicker.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, the fitting itself is dimmable. You need dimmable G9 bulbs and a compatible trailing-edge dimmer on the circuit. Leading-edge dimmers designed for older halogen bulbs may cause flicker or hum with LED G9 capsules.

What height does it need above a dining table?

For a dining table, the bottom of the pendant typically sits 700-800mm above the table surface. This requires a ceiling height of at least 2.4m, accounting for the pendant diameter and the suspension drop. The drop length is adjustable on installation.

No. The IP20 rating means the Flarestar is not protected against moisture and must only be installed in dry indoor locations away from direct water contact or high humidity zones.
