Description

The Flame is a 1.68m outdoor floor lamp moulded from opal white polyethylene in a rising spiral form inspired by flame movement. Four GU10 bulb fittings inside the hollow body cast light through the translucent material, turning the entire 260mm-square column into a diffuser. The lamp carries an IP44 rating, making it suitable for covered outdoor areas such as terraces, patios, verandas and pergolas where it is protected from direct heavy rainfall.

Designed for evening ambience rather than task lighting, the Flame provides soft background illumination across outdoor seating areas and garden paths. The 7.1kg weight and 260mm-square footprint give the lamp stability on paving, decking and gravel without needing to be anchored. The GU10 fittings accept any standard GU10 LED bulb up to the maximum wattage, allowing control over colour temperature and brightness. Dimming is possible if dimmable GU10 bulbs are fitted and used with a compatible outdoor dimmer circuit.

The opal polyethylene construction withstands UV exposure without yellowing and can be cleaned with a damp cloth. The seamless moulding means there are no joins or edges where dirt can accumulate. When lit the lamp glows uniformly across its full height, producing a vertical column of diffused light. When unlit during daylight it reads as a white sculptural object against planting or hard landscaping.

What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?

IP44 means the lamp is protected against splashing water from any direction but is not waterproof against heavy rain or submersion. The Flame is suitable for covered outdoor areas such as terraces, pergolas and verandas, but should not be placed in fully exposed positions where it receives direct rainfall.

What GU10 bulbs are recommended?

The lamp takes four standard GU10 bulbs (sold separately). Most users choose warm-white LED GU10 bulbs between 3W-5W and 2700K-3000K for ambient evening lighting. Higher wattages can be used up to the maximum rating, but are typically unnecessary for outdoor ambience.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, if you fit dimmable GU10 LED bulbs and connect the lamp to a dimmer-controlled outdoor circuit. The lamp itself does not include dimming controls.

How is it powered?

The lamp requires mains 220-240V power via a weatherproof outdoor socket or hardwired outdoor circuit. It is not battery-powered and must be positioned within cable reach of an outdoor electrical supply.
