The Fitzgerald is a 344mm outdoor wall lantern built around a textured black aluminium frame with burnished bronze corner bars and a vented chimney-style top cap. Four clear seeded glass panels sit behind the bronze cage, creating a traditional lantern silhouette with an industrial metalwork accent. The fitting takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately).

Designed for entrance porches, garden gates, garage side doors and courtyard walls, the Fitzgerald provides focused downward light from a compact 190mm-wide footprint. The 192mm projection from the wall means it sits clear of render and brick course variations, and the IP44 rating protects the socket and wiring from rain and moisture. The seeded glass texture diffuses the bulb slightly while still giving good light output.

The black finish is powder-coated onto the aluminium body and shows a slight texture under daylight, which helps hide minor surface marks and weathering over time. The burnished bronze bars run vertically at each corner and are solid brass rather than plated, so they'll develop a natural patina if left exposed to coastal or high-moisture environments. The glass panels are held by metal clips and can be cleaned by removing the base panel.

What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 indicates the fitting is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashing from any direction. This makes the Fitzgerald suitable for covered porches, under eaves and exposed wall positions where rain may hit the glass but the fitting itself is not directly above or in standing water. It's not rated for immersion or ground-level positions prone to flooding.

What bulb should I use?

The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Most users pair this with a 6-10W warm white LED filament bulb at 2700K to match the traditional lantern appearance. Clear or amber-tinted glass LED filament bulbs work well behind the seeded glass.

Will the bronze bars tarnish outdoors?

The burnished bronze bars are solid brass rather than plated. In coastal or high-moisture environments they may develop a natural patina over time. If you prefer to maintain the original burnished finish, occasional application of a metal protector or brass polish will slow oxidation.

How is the glass cleaned?

The glass panels are held by metal clips. The base panel can be removed by loosening the clips (with power isolated) to access the interior for cleaning. Use a soft cloth with distilled water or glass cleaner on the seeded glass, avoiding abrasive materials that could scratch the texture.
