Description

The Filbessa is a wooden pendant light with a shade made of black wooden slats, drawn together into a long, narrow neck that opens out into a rounded, open cage around a single bulb. It hangs from a round black ceiling plate, with a black steel body, and measures 110cm in overall height and 38cm in diameter. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 40W, and the bulb is not included, so the choice of bulb is yours. Its IP20 rating settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room, well away from bathrooms and steam.

Because the cage is open between the slats, the bulb stays on view through the gaps, so a decorative filament bulb is well worth choosing. The black slats read clearly against a pale wall and settle quietly against a darker one, which makes it an easy match for a monochrome living room. Hung over a coffee table, it gives a seating area a clear centre point; over a reading chair beside a bookcase, it makes a cosy corner for an evening with a book.
