Description

This female BNC to BNC coupler connector joins two male BNC cables end-to-end, extending CCTV camera runs, video signal paths and RF coaxial connections without soldering or re-terminating. The connector accepts standard BNC plugs on both ends and locks via the bayonet twist mechanism common to all BNC connectors.

Used in CCTV installations where pre-made camera cables need extending, in AV setups where video patch cables require joining, and in any application where two BNC-terminated coaxial cables need coupling. The connector maintains 50-ohm or 75-ohm impedance depending on the cables used, though it's most commonly paired with 75-ohm RG59 or RG6 coaxial for analogue and HD-over-coax CCTV systems.

The body is machined from nickel-plated brass, giving corrosion resistance and reliable contact over repeated connections. At 32mm long and 9mm diameter, the coupler adds minimal bulk to a cable run and fits through standard cable grommets and conduit entries. The knurled centre section provides grip for finger-tightening the bayonet lock without tools.

Frequently Asked

What cable types does this connector work with?

The coupler works with any coaxial cable terminated with a male BNC connector. This includes RG59, RG6 and RG11 commonly used in CCTV and video applications, as well as RG58 used in RF and test equipment.

Does it affect signal quality?

Any join in a coaxial run introduces a small amount of insertion loss and potential reflection. For typical CCTV camera runs under 100m the impact is negligible, but for long runs or high-frequency RF applications, minimising the number of couplers maintains signal integrity.

Can it be used outdoors?

The nickel-plated brass body resists corrosion, but BNC connectors are not inherently waterproof. For outdoor CCTV installations, the coupler should be housed inside a junction box or weatherproof enclosure to prevent water ingress into the connection.
