Description

The Fasvette is a traditional six-sided lantern pendant light in black cast aluminium, with clear glass panes on every side and a small finial at its base. It hangs on a black chain from a round ceiling rose and is 90cm tall overall, with a lantern 20.5cm in diameter. It takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W, which you choose yourself, as the bulb is not included. Rated IP44, it is protected from splashing water, so it can live outdoors under a porch or a covered entrance as readily as it hangs indoors.

We think it suits the front of a house best: a porch, a veranda or an entrance canopy, where a lantern says welcome to visitors arriving after dark. The clear glass lets the bulb's glow spread on all sides, so the light falls across a doorstep and a path rather than in a narrow pool. Indoors, it brings the same cottage character to a hallway, a boot room or a kitchen with a period feel. The chain gives it a classic look, and because the glass is clear, the bulb you pick becomes part of the design: a filament bulb shows its glowing strands, while a frosted one gives a gentler spread.

The body is cast aluminium in a black finish, and the six panes are glass. Aluminium does not rust, which matters for a fitting that lives outdoors through the winter. There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall, so you control it from a wall switch. It runs on a 220-240V mains supply, and as a light wired into the mains, it should be installed by a qualified electrician. The installation instructions are available as a download. To keep it looking its best, wipe the glass with a soft, damp cloth now and then so the light shines clearly.
