This scented candle sits in a round white tin with a lift-off lid, printed with the words FAMILY is the heart of a HOME in soft pink and grey lettering. Beneath the words runs a little garden scene: a blue bird perched on a pink watering can, a trowel and fork, a fluttering butterfly and a border of spring flowers in pink, lilac and green. The lid carries the same words with a smaller bird and watering can inside a pale blue edge, so it looks just as pretty from above. At 8cm across, it is a neat, compact size for a shelf or windowsill.

With a burn time of 25 hours, it lasts through plenty of quiet evenings, lit for an hour or two at a time. We like it on a kitchen windowsill, a bedside table, a mantelpiece or a hall shelf, anywhere the family gathers or passes by.
