Description

The Exility L-shape corner connector is a recessed track component that creates 90-degree turns within plasterboard ceilings cut to 12.5mm depth. Machined from aluminium with a black powder-coat finish, the connector measures 122mm along each arm with a 46mm depth profile, designed to sit flush with the ceiling surface once the plasterboard is closed around it.

Used in residential and commercial track lighting installations where the track layout needs to turn a corner — common in galley kitchens, L-shaped retail displays, corridor lighting runs, and open-plan living spaces where the track follows wall angles. The connector maintains electrical continuity between track sections, so spotlights positioned either side of the corner receive uninterrupted power. Installation involves cutting the plasterboard to match the connector profile, mounting the connector to the ceiling joists or noggins, running the track sections into each side, and closing the plasterboard around the assembly.

The black finish pairs with black recessed track to create a minimal ceiling detail where the track reads as a shadow line rather than a visible fitting. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor environments — not suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor canopies. The aluminium construction keeps the weight low at approximately 180g, so a single connector adds negligible load to a plasterboard ceiling.

Frequently Asked

What plasterboard depth is this designed for?

The connector is specifically designed for 12.5mm plasterboard thickness, which is the standard residential plasterboard depth in the UK. The 46mm depth profile accounts for the plasterboard thickness plus the track housing behind it.

Does it maintain electrical continuity through the corner?

Yes. The connector carries power through the 90-degree turn, so track spotlights positioned on either side of the corner receive uninterrupted supply from a single driver or transformer.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the connector is suitable for dry indoor environments only. Bathrooms, wet rooms and outdoor installations require higher IP-rated components.

Is it compatible with other Exility track components?

Yes. The connector is part of the Maytoni Exility recessed track system and pairs with Exility straight track sections, end caps, T-connectors and compatible track spotlights in the same range.
