Description

This mini wooden mantel plaque says something quietly lovely about home, with the words "I'm EXACTLY where i NEED to be" printed across its white face. The lettering mixes neat spaced capitals with a light, looping script, so EXACTLY and NEED stand out while the rest reads softly around them. To the left sits a dark grey line drawing of a little two-storey house, with a lined roof, a chimney crowned with a sprig of flowers and leaves, shuttered windows and a front door with a potted plant on either side. It is a slim rectangular block, 15cm wide, 5.5cm high and 2cm deep.

Its natural spot is the mantelpiece, as the name suggests, but it sits just as happily on a hallway table, a bookshelf, a bedside table or a windowsill, anywhere you pass each day and could use a gentle reminder. The little house and the words together make it a thoughtful new home gift for someone who has just collected the keys, whether to a first flat or a family house. It suits anyone who simply loves where they live, too. At only 15cm wide it fits a narrow shelf with room to spare, and its white finish works well alongside pale woods, soft greys and calm, neutral rooms.

The plaque is made from wood, with the words and drawing printed onto the white finish that covers its face and edges. At 2cm deep it stands upright on its own long edge. To keep it looking fresh, dust it now and then with a soft dry cloth and keep it away from water, as you would with any printed wooden piece. For a housewarming, slip it in with a card and a candle, or set it on the mantel beside a few stems of greenery for a small, welcoming corner that feels like home from the very first day.
