Description
This white stoneware mug carries the Evil Queen in three scenes printed around its side. On one face she stares out in close portrait, her gold crown high and a round jewel at her throat, framed by her tall pale collar. Turn the mug and she holds up a shining red apple in her purple gown, then she leans over a bubbling cauldron of yellow brew, a dripping, glowing apple dangling from her fingers while smoke curls up on either side. The handle and the inside are purple to match her gown, and the white body keeps every line of the artwork crisp. It stands 9.8cm tall and 8.5cm deep, and it holds 325ml.
At 325ml it holds a full, everyday cup of tea or coffee, so it earns its place as the morning mug rather than a shelf piece. It works just as well for a hot chocolate in the evening or a mug of soup at lunch. On a desk or in a home office the Evil Queen keeps a watchful eye over the working day, and in the kitchen she brings a touch of mischief to a row of plainer cups. Because the artwork runs around the whole body, there is a different scene to look at whichever way the mug faces on the shelf.
The mug is made of stoneware with a gloss finish, which gives the print a bright, clean look against the white. Its open loop handle leaves room for a comfortable grip. As good practice for printed ceramics, we suggest washing it by hand in warm soapy water and drying it with a soft cloth, which helps the artwork stay at its best. Keep it at the front of the cupboard for your own morning brew, or wrap it with a favourite tea or coffee for a ready-made present.
