Description

The shade is a broad round drum in corrugated white, hung beneath a polished chrome suspension with three E27 lampholders set inside it. At 50cm across it reads as a centrepiece without feeling heavy, and the ribbed surface breaks up the light as it passes through. Together the lamps give an even wash across a room rather than one hard pool below, and with suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer the level can be brought down for the evening.

We reach for a pendant this size over a dining table or a kitchen island, where the width of the shade answers the width of the furniture below. It suits a hallway or stairwell with height to play with, and a sitting room wanting general light rather than pools of it. The drop can be set long or short, so it works under a tall ceiling as readily as a standard one. We would hang it so the shade sits clear of eye line when seated at the table.

Polished chrome gives the metalwork a bright mirror face rather than a soft brushed one, and the white shade is frosted so the lamps read as glow instead of glare. Dust it with a dry microfibre cloth, following the ribs rather than rubbing across them, and buff the chrome gently; keep solvents away from both. Keep the fitting to dry indoor rooms, clear of steam and splashing. It carries a one year warranty. A wider version of this pendant is in the range, and we also stock matching semi-flush fittings, floor lamps and a table lamp for repeating the look elsewhere. Lamps are not included.
