Espardello Clear Glass Linear Pendant Light - Black

The Espardello is a linear pendant light built around a long oval canopy in black steel, with clear glass globes hanging beneath it on fine cables at varied heights, so the whole piece reads like a cloud of bubbles drifting over the room. It measures 148cm long and 26cm wide, and hangs to an overall height of 220cm. The light comes from eight integrated LEDs set into the underside of the canopy, each at 4.2W and 500 lumens, in a warm white of 3000K. It is rated IP20, which means it belongs indoors in a dry room.

We would hang it over a long dining table or a kitchen island, where its length follows the line of the surface and the globes fill the space between the ceiling and the table top. It also suits a tall hallway or an open stairwell, where a drop of this length has room to breathe. Because the glass is clear, the globes catch the light rather than hiding it, so the pendant looks lively whenever the LEDs are lit and still reads as a sculpted cluster of glass by day. The warm 3000K light keeps evening meals relaxed rather than clinical.

The canopy is steel in a black finish and the shades are clear glass, a material that wipes clean easily with a soft cloth. The light is dimmable, and with no switch on the fitting itself, it is switched at the wall. It runs on 220-240V mains and carries an energy class of E. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. Packed, it weighs 15.5KG, so have a helper ready when the box arrives.

Can the Espardello go in a bathroom or outdoors?

No. It is rated IP20, which means it is made for dry indoor rooms only, so keep it well away from bathrooms, outdoor spaces and anywhere damp.

Is the Espardello dimmable?

Yes, the light is dimmable. There is no switch on the fitting itself, so it is controlled from the wall switch in the room.

How large is the Espardello pendant?

It is 148cm long and 26cm wide, and it hangs to an overall height of 220cm, so it suits a room with a generous ceiling height.

What colour is the light?

The integrated LEDs give a warm white light at 3000K, with each of the eight lights giving 500 lumens from 4.2W.

Are bulbs needed?

No bulbs are needed, because the light source is integrated LED, built into the fitting rather than taking separate lamps.

What materials are the canopy and shades?

The canopy is black steel and the hanging globes are clear glass, so the dark canopy frames the clear glass cluster neatly.
