Description

The ESP MagPro is an addressable relay output module with a built-in isolator, designed for fire alarm systems requiring control of 240VAC circuits up to 5A. The module mounts in a grey ABS enclosure with screw terminals for loop wiring and load connections, and draws power from the fire alarm loop rather than requiring a separate power supply.

Used primarily in commercial fire alarm installations for controlling electromagnetic door holders, fire doors, smoke dampers, ventilation systems and similar safety-critical loads, the MagPro sits on the addressable fire alarm loop and responds to commands from the control panel. The built-in isolator prevents a short circuit on one section of the loop from disabling devices on the other sections, maintaining system integrity if a cable fault occurs.

The relay contacts are rated for 5A resistive load at 240VAC, with a typical application being the override of electromagnetic door magnets during fire alarm activation. The module meets EN54-18 certification requirements for input/output devices used in fire detection and alarm systems, ensuring compatibility with certified fire alarm control panels. The green PCB visible in the enclosure uses screw terminals for secure field wiring and includes status LEDs for loop communication and relay status monitoring.

What does the built-in isolator do?

The isolator prevents a short circuit on one section of the fire alarm loop from disabling devices on other sections. If a cable fault occurs, the isolator automatically disconnects the faulty section while allowing the rest of the loop to continue operating normally.

Does the module require separate power?

No. The MagPro is loop-powered, drawing its operating current from the fire alarm control panel via the two-wire addressable loop. This simplifies installation by eliminating the need for additional power cabling.

What loads can it control?

The relay contacts are rated for 240VAC circuits up to 5A resistive load. Common applications include electromagnetic door holders, fire door releases, smoke dampers and HVAC shutdown relays. Inductive loads may require derating — consult the datasheet for specific load types.
