Description
The ESP MAGfire BA-DB is a deep red IP66-rated base designed to house ESP Banshee sounders in outdoor and wet environments. The base accepts the BA-2R, BA-2W and CB-1R sounder models, converting them from indoor-rated devices to weatherproof fire alarm warning units suitable for external building perimeters, car parks, loading bays and other exposed locations.
Designed for conventional fire alarm installations requiring audible warning devices outside the protected building envelope, the base provides a sealed enclosure that protects the sounder's internal electronics and speaker from rain, dust and moisture ingress. The IP66 rating confirms resistance to powerful water jets and complete dust-tightness, meeting the environmental protection requirements of BS 5839-1 for outdoor fire alarm sounders.
The base is moulded from impact-resistant deep red polycarbonate, providing high visibility on external walls and maintaining colour stability under prolonged UV exposure. Four internal mounting lugs accept the Banshee sounder's fixing points, and cable entries at the base allow conduit or gland connections for protected wiring runs. The 95mm diameter footprint matches standard fire alarm device spacing and back box centres used in commercial fire detection systems.

Frequently Asked
Which ESP sounders fit this base?
The BA-DB base accepts three ESP Banshee sounder models: the BA-2R (red), BA-2W (white) and CB-1R (red ceiling variant). The base converts these indoor-rated sounders to IP66 weatherproof assemblies for outdoor use.
What does IP66 protect against?
IP66 provides complete dust-tightness (the first '6') and protection against powerful water jets from any direction (the second '6'). This makes the assembly suitable for external walls, canopies, loading bays and car parks exposed to rain and dust.
How is the base wired?
Cable entries at the base of the enclosure accept conduit or cable glands for protected wiring runs. The sounder inside connects to the fire alarm circuit via terminals on the sounder itself, with the base providing environmental protection only.
Is the base compatible with addressable fire systems?
The BA-DB is a passive enclosure and works with any fire alarm system that the installed sounder supports. The BA-2R, BA-2W and CB-1R are conventional sounders, so the complete assembly (base + sounder) operates on conventional fire alarm circuits only.
