Description

The ESP MagDuo is a configurable input/output relay module for fire alarm control panels, designed to interface between the panel and external systems or devices. The module can be configured as either an input to receive signals from external equipment (such as sprinkler flow switches, gas suppression systems, or third-party detectors) or as an output to trigger external devices (such as door releases, damper controls, or building management systems).

Installed within fire alarm zones as part of a two-wire addressable system, the MagDuo allows fire alarm panels to communicate with equipment outside the core detection network. The built-in End of Line (EOL) function monitors circuit integrity, providing fault indication if the supervised circuit becomes open or short-circuited. Two LED indicators on the faceplate show EOL/input status and output status, allowing engineers to verify module operation during commissioning and testing.

The module mounts on a standard electrical back box and is approved to EN54-18:2005 for use in European fire detection systems. The white surround and black faceplate with printed status labels give clear visual feedback during service and maintenance. Dimensions of 150mm × 150mm × 80mm accommodate the relay mechanism and terminal connections behind the cover plate.

Frequently Asked

Can the MagDuo be used as both input and output simultaneously?

No. The module is configured as either an input or an output during installation, not both at once. If both input and output functions are needed in the same zone, two separate MagDuo modules are required.

What does the End of Line function monitor?

The built-in EOL monitors the supervised circuit connected to the module. If the circuit becomes open or short-circuited, the module signals a fault condition to the fire alarm panel, allowing the fault to be identified during routine testing or system monitoring.

What external devices can be controlled in output mode?

Common applications include magnetic door holders, fire damper actuators, building management system interfaces, smoke extract fans, and suppression system release circuits. The relay contact rating determines the maximum load — consult the specification sheet for exact relay ratings.

Is the module compatible with all fire alarm panels?

The MagDuo is designed for use with ESP two-wire addressable fire alarm control panels. Compatibility with other manufacturers' panels depends on their support for EN54-18 compliant modules. Check with your panel manufacturer or consult the MagDuo installation manual before specifying.
