Description
The ESP SD-DB is a deep base adaptor for conventional fire detectors, designed to provide additional mounting depth where surface cable entry is required or where the ceiling surface is uneven. The white thermoplastic base raises the detector approximately 30mm above the ceiling plane, creating space for cable terminations and allowing the detector to sit level on rough or textured surfaces.
Used primarily in fire alarm installations where back-box mounting is not practical, the deep base fits between the ceiling and the detector head, providing a stable platform for wiring connections. The base is compatible with ESP's MAGPRO series detectors (MAGPRO-DB, MAGPRO-DBS, MAGPRO-DBSS) and conventional photoelectric and combined smoke detectors (PSD2, CSD2, PSD212, CSD212). It can also be used as an adaptor plate for addressable sounder bases, allowing a sounder base to be retrofitted to an existing detector installation.
The 100mm diameter base matches standard detector footprints and includes mounting lugs at three fixing points for ceiling attachment. The central aperture accommodates the detector's base plate and provides cable routing channels for both surface-run and concealed wiring. The white finish matches standard fire safety equipment and blends into typical commercial ceiling installations.

Frequently Asked
Which detectors is this base compatible with?
The SD-DB is compatible with ESP MAGPRO-DB, MAGPRO-DBS, MAGPRO-DBSS conventional detectors, plus PSD2, CSD2, PSD212 and CSD212 photoelectric and combined smoke detectors. Check the datasheet for full compatibility.
What depth does the base add?
The base adds approximately 30mm of projection below the ceiling, providing clearance for cable terminations and allowing the detector to sit level on uneven surfaces.
Can it be used with addressable systems?
Yes. The base can act as an adaptor plate for addressable sounder bases, allowing a sounder base to be fitted to an existing detector installation without replacing the ceiling mounting.
Is it suitable for surface cable entry?
Yes. The base includes cable routing channels that accommodate surface-run cables, making it suitable for installations where concealed wiring is not available or practical.
