Esme 20 Light Crystal Semi-Flush Ceiling Light - Polished Chrome

The Esme is a 700mm semi-flush ceiling light built from polished chrome ribbon twirls threaded with Asfour crystal beads, housing 20 individual G4 halogen fittings. The chrome ribbons curve and spiral outward from a central polished chrome canopy, creating a sculptural mass that sits 400mm from the ceiling when fitted. Each ribbon is strung with precision-cut crystal beads that catch and split the light from the 20 individual G4 capsule bulbs positioned throughout the structure.

Designed for large living rooms, master bedrooms and dining rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the Esme delivers ambient light through the combined output of 20 individual G4 halogen bulbs (each rated up to 20W, sold separately). The semi-flush mount means the fixture sits closer to the ceiling than a traditional pendant but projects far enough to act as a focal point. The 700mm diameter and 9.2kg weight require a reinforced ceiling rose or mounting block capable of supporting the combined load during and after installation.

The polished chrome finish reflects ambient daylight and artificial light from surrounding fixtures, amplifying the sparkle effect created by the Asfour crystal. Each bead is faceted to split white light into spectral colours, creating rainbow flashes across walls and ceilings when the bulbs are lit. The ribbon structure gives the fixture a sense of movement despite being static, with each curve and twist creating shadow and highlight gradients that shift as you walk around the room. The G4 fittings require low-voltage halogen capsule bulbs and are not compatible with standard LED or CFL replacements unless specifically rated for G4 low-voltage retrofit.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 400mm drop from ceiling to base of the fixture works best in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above. Lower ceilings may feel visually compressed by the fixture's projection and 700mm diameter.

Is the Esme dimmable?

No. The fixture is not rated as dimmable and should be installed on a standard non-dimming circuit. Attempting to use a dimmer with this fitting may cause bulb flicker or damage to the transformer.

Can the ceiling support the weight?

The Esme weighs 9.2kg. Installation requires a reinforced ceiling rose or mounting block capable of supporting this load. Standard plasterboard fixings are not adequate — the fixture must be screwed into a ceiling joist or a reinforced mounting plate spanning multiple joists.
