Description

The Esme is a 550mm diameter crystal semi-flush ceiling light with twelve G4 bulb positions arranged across a structure of polished chrome ribbon twists and crystal bead strands. The chrome ribbons curl outward from a central spherical hub in overlapping loops, each loop strung with small faceted crystal beads that refract light when the bulbs are lit. The fitting extends 750mm minimum from the ceiling rose, making it a semi-flush rather than a flush-mount design.

Designed for living rooms, dining rooms and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher, the Esme provides ambient diffused light rather than directional task light. The twelve G4 bulbs (sold separately, max 20W each) sit within the ribbon structure, casting light through the crystal beads and onto the polished chrome surfaces, which reflect and multiply the light output. The semi-flush mounting keeps the fitting closer to the ceiling than a traditional chandelier, making it suitable for rooms where a full pendant drop would hang too low.

The polished chrome finish shows fingerprints during handling but provides high reflectivity once installed, amplifying the sparkle from the crystal beads. The combined weight of the chrome frame and crystal elements is 7.2kg, requiring a ceiling rose and joist capable of supporting that load. The fitting is not dimmable and is not compatible with LED or CFL G4 bulbs — halogen G4 capsules are required. The adjustable drop from 750mm to 1950mm allows the fitting to be positioned lower in taller rooms if needed, though most installations use the minimum drop to retain the semi-flush appearance.

What ceiling height is needed?

The minimum drop of 750mm means the fitting extends quite far from the ceiling. For a standard 2.4m ceiling, the bottom of the fitting sits approximately 1.65m above the floor, which works in most living and dining rooms. Lower ceilings may feel crowded unless the room is large.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off the mains supply before cleaning. Wipe the chrome ribbons with a soft dry cloth. The crystal beads can be wiped individually with a barely-damp microfibre cloth, or use a specialist crystal cleaner designed for chandeliers. Avoid household sprays and do not soak the fitting.
