Description
The Erinus is a recessed LED step light built to mark indoor stairs, corridors and skirting lines with a low, glare-free glow. It draws just 0.8W on a 12V DC supply and puts out 15 lumens at a 4000K cool white tone, so the light grazes the tread or floor rather than dazzling anyone walking through. Specified in the US as a recessed step or stair light of the same low-output kind, it suits the same low-level guidance role. The square plastic body measures 75 x 75 mm on the face and recesses into the wall, giving a flush, neat finish once installed.
The Erinus is intended for indoor low-level marking rather than lighting a whole room, so its output is best judged on throw rather than coverage area. A single unit washes the step or floor immediately in front of it, and a run set at regular intervals turns a staircase, hallway or landing into a clearly defined safe path after dark. Because the IP20 rating limits it to dry interior locations, keep it to indoor stairwells, hallways, bedrooms and similar spaces, and well clear of bathrooms, porches or any outdoor or damp position. Mount it into the wall at low level, typically just above the tread or skirting line, for an even line of light down a flight.
Construction is moulded plastic in a black finish, with the fitting recessing into a wall cut-out for a flush fit. The integrated LED is rated for 30,000 hours and runs on 12V DC, so it needs a suitable low-voltage driver or transformer as part of the circuit. It is not dimmable and is fixed at a 4000K cool white tone. The square 75 x 16 x 75 mm form keeps the visible face compact. We stock the Erinus in other tones across the range to match different schemes.

Frequently Asked
Does this step light need a transformer or driver?
Yes. It runs on 12V DC rather than mains, so it must be wired to a suitable low-voltage driver or transformer. One unit draws only 0.8W, so several can share a single appropriately rated supply.
Where can I install the Erinus step light?
It carries an IP20 rating, which means it is for dry indoor use only. It suits staircases, hallways, landings and bedrooms, but should be kept out of bathrooms, porches and any outdoor or damp location.
How is it mounted?
The fitting recesses into the wall, dropping into a cut-out so the square face sits flush. Position it at low level, typically just above the tread or skirting, for an even line of guidance light down a flight of stairs.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the visible face with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth to remove dust and marks. Avoid solvents or abrasive cleaners on the plastic, and as a recessed indoor fitting it needs very little upkeep.
