Description
The Erinus LED B-NW is a recessed LED step light built into a compact Ø80 round body, drawing just 0.8W on a 12V DC supply. It delivers 15 lumens at 4000K, a cool white tone that picks out tread edges and skirting lines without flooding a space. Often listed in the US as a recessed stair light, it gives a low, marker-level glow rather than general illumination, so its job is to outline a step or a wall line so the eye can read it at night.
The fitting recesses into the wall at low level, making it suited to indoor staircases, hallway skirtings and the base of a landing. Because it carries an IP20 rating it is for dry indoor positions only, so keep it clear of porches, carports, bathrooms and any damp or exposed location. The output is a single accent point rather than room lighting, so plan a step light per riser or every metre or so along a wall run to mark the path clearly, building a line of soft cool white guide points up a stair or along a corridor.
Construction is a black plastic round body weighing only 20g, with a recessed mount that sits flush in the wall once installed. It runs on a 12V DC supply, so a suitable transformer or driver is needed to step mains voltage down. The LED is non-dimmable and rated for around 30,000 hours at Ra 80 colour rendering. The cool white 4000K tone and discreet black finish let it disappear into the wall by day and read clearly by night.

Frequently Asked
Does this step light need a transformer?
Yes. It runs on a 12V DC supply, so it must be wired to a suitable LED driver or transformer that steps mains voltage down to 12V. Several Erinus points can usually be run from one correctly rated driver.
Can it be used outdoors?
No. This fitting carries an IP20 rating, which means it is for dry indoor use only. Keep it out of porches, bathrooms, gardens and any damp or exposed position.
How is it installed?
It is a recessed fitting that sits flush in the wall at low level. A round Ø75mm aperture is needed to drop the body into the wall, leaving only the face visible once mounted.
How should the lens be cleaned?
Wipe the face with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth to clear dust and marks. Avoid solvents and abrasive pads, which can dull the lens, and never use a soaking cloth on a low-voltage fitting.
