The Maytoni Enigma is an adjustable LED pendant light built around a matt black metal cylinder housing a 5W 3000K LED, suspended on a tensioned cable system from a brass ceiling canopy. A circular brass disc sits partway down the pendant, acting as a counterweight and visual anchor. The cable runs through a pulley mechanism that allows the cylinder to be repositioned vertically and angled horizontally, directing light where it's needed.

Designed for task and accent lighting rather than ambient fill, the Enigma suits kitchen islands, breakfast bars, reading nooks and workspaces where directional light is needed without a fixed downlight position. The adjustable cable allows the pendant to be lowered over a worktop or raised to act as wall wash, and the cylinder can be angled to light a specific area. The 30cm maximum width means the pendant fits comfortably over narrow counters or side tables without overwhelming the space.

The combination of brass canopy and disc with the matt black cylinder creates contrast without mixing multiple metal tones across a room. The brass elements have a satin finish that reduces reflections under daylight, while the matt black cylinder hides fingerprints and dust better than polished metal. The integrated 5W LED provides focused downlight through the open end of the cylinder, with the 3000K colour temperature producing warm white light suitable for residential interiors. The pendant uses a cable-and-pulley system where the black cylinder can be raised or lowered by pulling the cable, and the cylinder itself can be angled to direct the light beam. The brass disc acts as a counterweight to hold the chosen position.

The 5W 3000K LED is integrated into the cylinder housing. It is not user-replaceable. The LED is rated for approximately 25,000-30,000 hours of use under typical conditions.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable cable allows the pendant to suit a range of ceiling heights. For use over a kitchen island or worktop, ceiling heights of 2.4m or above work well. The pendant can be raised for higher ceilings or lowered for task lighting positions.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the pendant is suitable for dry indoor spaces only and does not meet the IP44 minimum required for bathroom zones.
