Energizer Pocket LED Torch 45lm - 2 x AAA Included

This is the Energizer Pocket Light, a small handheld LED torch that the retail pack rates at 45 lumens. The body is moulded in blue with a curved white flash down one face and the Energizer wordmark near the base, and the pack prints its weight as 22g. Two AAA alkaline batteries come with it, shown loose alongside the torch on the card, so there is nothing else to buy before you use it. The pack contains one light.

Forty five lumens is close work light rather than a beam for a field. It is the right amount for finding a keyhole in the dark, reading a meter under the stairs, looking behind a radiator or checking why the car boot light has stopped working. Because the whole thing weighs what the pack calls 22g, it sits in a coat pocket, a handbag, a glovebox or a bedside drawer without announcing itself, which is the point of a torch you actually have on you. It suits a household that keeps one by the fuse board and another in the car.

The light source is an LED, and an LED has no filament to shake loose, which is worth knowing in something that lives at the bottom of a bag. How bright is 45 lumens in real terms?

It is close range light. Think finding a keyhole, a fuse board, a dropped earring or a label on a box in the loft, rather than lighting a path across a field.

What batteries does it take once the supplied pair runs down?

It runs on AAA cells, the most widely stocked size there is, so replacements cost very little and you will find them in any corner shop.

Can I use it outdoors in the wet?

No water resistance rating is printed on the pack or given in the specification, so we cannot tell you how it copes with rain or splashes.

Is the light dimmable or does it have more than one setting?

Neither the specification nor the retail pack says anything about dimming or multiple modes, so we are not able to confirm either way.
