Description

This is a clear GLS bulb that keeps the look of a filament lamp and adds app control. Straight LED filaments sit inside plain glass, so the light source stays on show rather than hiding behind a frosted coating. It draws 6.5W, and the retail pack rates it as a replacement for a 60W incandescent lamp. The cap is E27, the larger of the two screw fittings used in British homes, and GLS is the rounded bulb shape most ceiling pendants and table lamps were built around.

Because the filaments are the part you see, we would put it where the bulb is on view: an open pendant over a dining table, a clear glass shade, a bare flex, or a table lamp whose shade sits high. It joins your home Wi-Fi, so brightness and white tone are set from the free smart app on a phone or tablet, or by voice through Google, Alexa or Siri Shortcuts, all of which the pack names. The pack also prints group control and scheduling, which matter if you are running several bulbs in one room, or want a hallway lamp to come on while you are away.

The pack carries an energy class of F and shows a variable white scale rather than fixed Kelvin figures, so the white tone is chosen in the app instead of being fixed at the factory. The specification records the bulb as dimmable, and the level is set in the app. Rated IP20, it has no protection against water, so keep it to dry indoor fittings and let it cool before you handle it. One box holds a single bulb, and we sell it in multiples of twelve, which suits a whole house lamp swap or a landlord restocking several rooms at once.

It has an E27 screw cap, the larger of the two screw fittings, and a standard GLS bulb shape. If your existing bulb screws in and is roughly this size, it will fit.

How bright is it against an old 60W bulb?

The pack rates it as a 60W replacement. Note that our supplier specification gives 806 lumens while the pack itself prints 700 lumens, so we have queried which figure is correct.

Can I change the colour of the light?

The pack describes variable white, meaning you set the white tone yourself in the app. It does not mention colour changing, so we would not buy it expecting reds, greens or blues.

Does it need a separate hub or bridge?

The pack shows a Wi-Fi mark and asks you to download the free smart app on a phone or tablet. It prints nothing about a separate hub, and we cannot claim more than the pack says.

Can I use it on an existing wall dimmer?

The specification records the bulb as dimmable and the level is set in the app. Nothing on the pack or in the specification covers wall dimmers, so we cannot advise on that.

Can it go outdoors or anywhere damp?

No. IP20 gives no protection against water at all, so it belongs in dry indoor fittings only, in a room and a fitting that stay dry.
