Description

The Emberlux is a 75cm-tall rectangular column downlight in matt black metal, designed to surface-mount onto ceilings and direct light downwards through a single GU10 bulb fitting. The column measures 60mm square in cross-section and projects 60mm below the ceiling, creating a slender vertical element that channels light into a focused beam rather than diffusing it across a room.

Designed for hallways, entrance areas, above kitchen islands and feature wall illumination where directional accent light is needed rather than general ambient coverage. The 75cm height suits standard 2.4m ceiling heights without overwhelming the space, while the narrow beam spread makes the fitting useful for highlighting architectural details, artwork or specific zones within a larger room. The matt black finish absorbs surrounding light and keeps the fitting visually recessive when switched off.

The metal housing provides heat dissipation for the GU10 lamp and the IP20 rating confirms indoor-only use. The fitting is dimmable when paired with a compatible GU10 LED bulb and trailing-edge or phase-cut dimmer (both sold separately). The slender column profile means multiple Emberlux downlights can be grouped in a line above a kitchen worktop or island without creating visual clutter, with each unit independently directing its beam.

Is the Emberlux dimmable?

The fitting supports dimming when used with a dimmable GU10 LED bulb and a compatible trailing-edge or phase-cut dimmer. Both the bulb and dimmer are sold separately. Not all GU10 LEDs dim smoothly, so check bulb compatibility with your chosen dimmer before purchase.

What bulb does it take?

The Emberlux takes a single GU10 bulb (sold separately). For accent lighting or feature illumination, a 5-7W GU10 LED with a narrow beam angle (25-38 degrees) works well. For more diffuse coverage, a wider beam angle GU10 is available.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating confirms the fitting is suitable for dry indoor locations only. For bathroom use, a downlight with IP44 or higher rating is required, particularly in zones near showers or baths.

How is it mounted?

The Emberlux surface-mounts directly onto the ceiling using screws into the ceiling material or a joist. The 60mm square base plate conceals the ceiling connection and houses the GU10 lampholder. Wiring connects through the ceiling void in the same way as a standard ceiling light.
