Description
The Elverton in satin brass plate puts a tapered white shade on the end of a plated arm, standing 448mm tall and 130mm wide with a 170mm projection. One 6W E14 LED lamp does the work, and the fitting is dimmable, so it can run bright for getting ready and low for the last hour of the evening. It weighs only 0.5kg, so mounting is easy on most wall types with the right fixing. Rated IP44, it is protected against splashing water, which widens where it can reasonably go in a house.
This is a wall light for places where a lamp on a surface is not practical. In a bedroom a pair either side of the bed gives each person their own reading light and keeps the bedside tables clear. In a hallway it lifts the wall without narrowing the route, and either side of a mirror it puts light on a face rather than on the top of a head. The white shade softens the output and the satin brass plate keeps the metal warm, which suits rooms with wood, wool and warmer paint colours.
The arm and backplate are metal with satin brass plating, a finish that stays muted rather than mirror bright, and the shade is a plain tapered white. Construction is Class 1, so an earth connection is needed and a qualified electrician should install it. Dust the shade dry rather than wet, and wipe the plated metal with a barely damp cloth before drying it immediately, since plating marks if water is left to sit. Confirm the bulb is dimmable before using a dimmer. A nickel plated Elverton is also available if you prefer a cooler metal in the room.

Frequently Asked
What finish is the metal?
Satin brass plating over metal, with the shade finished in white. Satin holds back the shine, so it reads warm without competing with the light itself.
Which bulb does it take?
A single 6W E14 LED lamp, the smaller screw fitting. LED is the sensible choice here because the shade encloses the lamp.
Is it dimmable?
Yes. Use a bulb marked as dimmable and a dimmer rated for LED loads, or low settings can flicker. On a standard switch it simply runs at full output.
How much does it project?
170mm from the wall, with a height of 448mm and a width of 130mm. Slim enough not to catch a shoulder in a hallway.
How do I clean it?
A soft brush or dry cloth on the shade, a barely damp cloth on the brass plate, dried straight away. Keep polishes and abrasive creams off the plating.
Can it be fitted in a bathroom?
It carries an IP44 rating, so it is suitable in principle. Have your electrician check the bathroom zone for the exact position before installation.
