Description
The Elverton is a wall light with a tapered white shade held out on a nickel plated arm and backplate. It stands 448mm tall, 130mm wide, and projects 170mm, enough to put light where you need it without pushing far into the room. A single 6W E14 LED lamp sits inside the shade, and the fitting is dimmable. At 0.5kg it is one of the lighter wall lights we stock, which makes mounting straightforward, and it is rated IP44, so splashing water is not a problem.
We would use the Elverton as a bedside wall sconce, in a pair either side of a bed or a mirror, or along a hallway where floor and table space is at a premium. The shade directs light down and out, which is far more useful for reading in bed than an uplighter would be, and the dimmable option means the same fitting can drop to a low level late in the evening. Because it is rated IP44 it also suits a bathroom or en suite, subject to your electrician confirming the zone. The white shade keeps the light warm and even.
The arm and backplate are metal with nickel plating, and the shade is a plain tapered white. Construction is Class 1, so the fitting needs an earth connection and should be installed by a qualified electrician. Dust the shade with a soft brush or a dry cloth rather than a wet one, and wipe the plated metal with a barely damp cloth, drying it straight away to avoid water marks. Check the lamp is dimmable if you are wiring it to a dimmer. The Elverton also comes in satin brass plate if you would rather run a warmer metal through the room.

Frequently Asked
What is it made of?
Metal with a nickel plated finish, and the shade is finished in white. Nickel plating sits cooler in tone than brass and works well with chrome taps and handles.
Which bulb does it need?
One 6W E14 LED lamp. E14 is the smaller screw fitting, sometimes called small Edison screw, and LED keeps the heat down inside a closed shade.
Can it be dimmed?
Yes. The fitting is dimmable, so long as the bulb is marked dimmable and the dimmer suits LED loads. Otherwise you can get buzzing or flicker low down the range.
How far does it come off the wall?
170mm of projection, on a body 448mm tall and 130mm wide. That is slim enough for a hallway and deep enough to put light onto an open book.
How should I clean it?
Dust the shade with a soft brush or dry cloth. Wipe the nickel with a barely damp cloth and dry it at once, since standing water will mark plating. No abrasive creams.
Is it suitable for a bathroom?
It is rated IP44 for splashing water, so yes in principle. Ask your electrician to confirm the bathroom zone at the position you have in mind before it goes up.
