Description
The Elverton is a vintage brass wall light with a tapered white shade, 448mm tall, 130mm wide and projecting 170mm from the wall. The shade keeps the lamp out of sight and pushes a warm pool of light up and down the wall rather than out into the room. One E14 LED lamp at 6W sits under the shade, and at 0.5kg this is a light little fitting that a plasterboard wall will take happily with the right plugs.
A wall sconce at this height is useful where a table lamp has nowhere to stand: beside a bed with a narrow nightstand, along a landing, above a desk or either side of a chimney breast. The tapered shade angles the light where you need it for reading without glare across the room, and the fitting is dimmable with a compatible LED lamp and dimmer switch, which matters most in a bedroom. Height is worth settling before anyone drills, since a little above shoulder level when seated puts the light on the page rather than in your eyes. We would fit a pair at matching heights either side of a bed.
The arm and backplate are metal in a vintage brass finish, warm and softly aged rather than mirror bright, and the white shade lifts the tone so the fitting does not disappear against darker paint. Dust the shade with a soft brush or the upholstery head of a vacuum on low, and keep it dry; a dry soft cloth is all the brass wants. It is rated IP20, so dry rooms only. The Elverton reads well against panelling, plaster and papered walls alike, singly or in pairs.

Frequently Asked
What is the Elverton wall light made from?
A metal arm and backplate in a vintage brass finish, with a tapered white shade.
How far does it project?
It comes 170mm off the wall, stands 448mm tall and is 130mm wide, so it clears a narrow bedside table without crowding the room.
How do I clean the shade?
Brush it gently or vacuum it on a low setting with the upholstery head. Keep it dry, and use a dry soft cloth on the brass.
What bulb does it use?
One E14 lamp at up to 6W. With a dimmable LED lamp and a compatible dimmer you can drop it to a low bedtime level.
Can it go in a bathroom?
No. The IP20 rating means dry rooms only, so bedrooms, landings, studies and living rooms.
