Elsa Round Canopy Kit 10cm - Gold

A small gold disc, round and shallow, made to tidy the point where a single pendant drop meets the ceiling. It measures 10cm across and sits close and flat, so it reads as a neat coin of metal rather than a bump above the flex. There is no lamp and no gear inside it, and no light comes from it: the fitting it serves does all of that. The gold has a warm, slightly buttery tone that pairs happily with brass hardware, clear glass shades and the satin nickel and crystal pieces in the wider range.

We reach for this one where a lone pendant hangs over a kitchen island, a breakfast bar or a bedside table and the top of the drop is at eye level from the doorway. It suits hallways, landings and stairwells too, where the eye travels upwards and a bare flex looks unfinished. In modern rooms it keeps the ceiling quiet; in older rooms the warm metal gives a plainer pendant a little more presence. Because it handles one drop only, it is the piece to choose when a single light does the job and a multi-arm plate would look overdressed.

The finish is a smooth, even gold with no texture to trap dust, so an occasional pass with a dry microfibre cloth is all it asks. Skip cream cleaners, scouring pads and anything containing solvent, which will dull the plating. Keep it to dry indoor rooms, well away from shower spray and steam. It carries a one year warranty. It is 100mm in diameter and 25mm deep, so it sits close against the ceiling and takes up very little visual space.

How many pendant drops does it take?

One. It has a single central hole and is intended for a lone pendant. For multiple drops, look at the rectangular canopy kit, which takes seven.

Does it include a lamp?

No. It is a non-electric accessory and produces no light itself, so the bulb is dictated by the pendant fitting used with it.

What is the best way to clean the gold?

A dry or barely damp soft cloth, then buff gently. Avoid polishes, cream cleaners and solvent-based sprays, as these can mark the plated surface.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

We would keep it to dry rooms. It is rated for ordinary indoor use rather than damp or splash zones.

How heavy is it?

Around 0.2kg, so it adds almost nothing to the weight of the pendant it finishes.
