Description

A long, shallow rectangular plate in black, drilled with seven holes so a run of pendant drops can gather beneath a single plate rather than several separate roses. The look is deliberately quiet: straight edges, square corners and a slim depth that keeps the eye on whatever hangs below. At 46cm across the shorter side it is wide enough to take a staggered arrangement as well as a straight line, which is what makes it useful over furniture that is broad as well as long.

We reach for it where a dining table or a kitchen island wants a row of small pendants instead of a large single fitting, and it does the same job over a bar, a length of worktop or a wide hallway. It suits anyone putting a light together rather than buying one finished: the canopy sets the footprint, and the pendants, flex lengths and lamps are all chosen to suit the room. Being non-electrical in itself, the lamp type simply follows whatever pendants you hang from it.

The black finish runs across the face and the edges, and it sits happily against white plaster or a darker painted ceiling. Dust gathers on the upper face where nobody sees it, so we would give the plate a pass with a dry cloth whenever the pendants get their turn, and keep solvents and cream cleaners well away from the coating. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same canopy in chrome, gold and white, and the Elsa wire lockers come in matching finishes if you want the parts to read as a set. Pendant drops are bought separately.
