Description

A clear glass shade on a slim antique brass arm, handed to the right so it can be set as one half of a pair. At 19cm wide it is a small fitting, taller than it is broad, and the clear glass keeps it visually quiet on the wall: you read the shape of the arm and the glow of the capsule inside rather than a solid mass. A single G9 lamp does the work.

We like handed wall lights where symmetry matters, and we would fit this one with the left-hand version either side of a bed, a mirror or a chimney breast so the pair leans inward. Used alone it suits a hallway, an alcove or the wall beside a reading chair. There is no switch on the body, so it runs from the wall switch that serves it, and it will dim if you pair a suitable lamp with a suitable dimmer. Both are chosen separately, and 10W is the ceiling for the lamp.

Glass and metal throughout, with the brass given an antique sheen that softens the light bouncing off it rather than firing it back. For cleaning, let the fitting cool, then take the dust off the glass with a dry lint-free cloth; keep metal polish and sprays away from the brass, as they will dull the finish over time. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, on a normal household supply. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same fitting in polished chrome, along with the left-hand version in both finishes, and the Elm range runs on into a two-light wall light, table and floor lamps and semi-flush ceiling fittings. Lamps are not included.
