Description

A shelving unit, 166cm tall, in wood. At 166cm tall it comes to about the height of a door handle plus a metre. Open shelving is storage you are choosing to look at, so what goes on it is part of the decision. A shelf that will hold files wants doors; a shelf that will hold books and objects does not.

It is the timber tool handles are made from, because it flexes under shock instead of fracturing. In a frame that means it absorbs the knocks that would start a split elsewhere. 5 shelves.

An anti-tip wall strap is included, and on a tall piece it should be used.

A panel that carries weight over a span will sag eventually if the span is long enough. Shorter shelves, or a centre support, is what prevents it — not a thicker board. Measure the shelf height against the tallest thing you own that has to go on it. Most units are sized for paperbacks, and a run of art books or LPs will not fit a shelf that suits a novel. It needs nothing beyond dusting, and a damp cloth on the finish rather than anything solvent.
