Description

This is a small white converter that lets a fitting wired for an E27 lampholder take an E40 lamp instead. It is a short cylinder, no wider than the base of a standard screw lamp, so it disappears once the lamp is in place. The E27 end screws into the existing holder, the E40 end receives the larger goliath screw lamp, and nothing about the fitting itself needs to change. One lamp, one socket, no wiring.

Most people reach for one of these when a shade, a workshop pendant or an inherited industrial fitting has the wrong holder for the lamp they want to run. It is a quick answer for large LED lamps in high bay shades, garage and outbuilding fittings and older pendants where the original holder is worth keeping. We keep converters like this in stock precisely because rewiring a good fitting for the sake of a socket size is rarely worth the trouble. It is intended for dry rooms indoors and for a normal household supply, not for damp or exposed positions.

The body is finished in plain white, which sits quietly against a white ceiling rose or inside a shade where a little of the holder shows. Once a lamp is fitted there is very little to look after: turn the power off at the switch, wait for the lamp to lose its heat, then lift dust away with a dry cloth before the lamp goes back. Nothing needs polishing and nothing needs wet cleaning. LED lamps suit it well and keep the load light. It carries a one year warranty.
