Elements E14 Plug Adaptor 29mm - White

This is a small adaptor that lets an existing E27 lampholder take an E14 lamp instead. It screws into the larger holder and presents the smaller thread at the top, so a slim candle lamp can sit where a standard screw lamp was intended. The body is 29mm across and 43mm tall, which is little enough to disappear inside most shades once the lamp is in place. White throughout, so it stays quiet against a pale lampholder, a white flex or the inside of a cream shade. We keep these to hand because the question comes up almost weekly.

Most people come to one of these after finding a shade, a chandelier arm or a table lamp that only looks right with a candle lamp, while the fitting itself was built around the bigger thread. It solves that without any rewiring and without hunting for a replacement holder. Our own preference here is an LED candle in the C35 shape, since the narrow glass suits clip shades and small pendants, and a low-wattage LED keeps the whole assembly cool and light. Handy too for anyone with older lamps at home and a drawer of newer candle lamps that will not fit them.

Construction is straightforward: a moulded white housing with the two threads set in line, sized so it grips firmly and does not wobble once the lamp is tightened. Keep it clean by switching off at the wall, letting things cool, then running a dry cloth over the outside; nothing damp goes near the threads. Suitable for ordinary indoor lighting on a domestic mains circuit. It carries a one year warranty. Which lampholder does it fit into?

It screws into a standard E27 lampholder, the larger of the two common screw sizes, and gives you an E14 socket in its place.

How much height does it add?

It stands 43mm tall and 29mm in diameter, so allow for that extra height when checking whether your lamp will still sit inside the shade.

What lamp should I use with it?

An LED candle in the C35 shape is the sensible pairing. Stay with a low-wattage LED so the holder and the adaptor are not working hard.

Is a lamp supplied?

No, the converter comes on its own and you choose the E14 candle lamp to suit the fitting.

How should I clean it?

Turn the power off, let the lamp cool, remove it, then wipe the white body with a dry cloth. Avoid sprays and damp cloths near the threads.
