Description
The Elbe is a 200cm bollard light with a graphite-finished metal column construction and an integrated 25W LED running at 3000K colour temperature. Four vertical LED strips housed within a square-section metal frame cast light in four directions from the top of the column, providing pathway illumination and ambient wash across driveways, courtyards and large garden borders.
At 2m tall, the Elbe is designed for spaces where standard 65-90cm bollards would be under-scaled — long driveways, commercial building entrances, hotel pathways and public park routes. The height pushes light outward at roughly waist-to-chest level, reducing the number of fittings needed to cover a given run compared to shorter bollards. The 11cm square footprint requires a ground installation depth of approximately 30-40cm for stability, typically set in concrete or compacted hardcore.
The IP65 rating certifies protection against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, making the fitting suitable for year-round outdoor installation in the UK climate. The graphite powder-coated aluminium finish resists corrosion and weathering without requiring regular maintenance beyond occasional rinsing to remove road salt or coastal spray residue. The integrated LED eliminates the need for bulb replacement over the fitting's typical 15-20 year service life.
The four-sided vertical LED configuration means the Elbe works equally well as a standalone accent (lighting a driveway entrance pillar, for example) or in a series along a pathway edge. The 3000K warm-white output sits between the warmer 2700K residential standard and the cooler 4000K commercial pathway standard, making it a flexible choice for both domestic and light commercial projects.

Frequently Asked
What ground installation depth is required?
The Elbe requires approximately 30-40cm ground depth for stable installation. The base is typically set in concrete or compacted hardcore, with mains cabling run underground to the fitting location. A qualified electrician should handle the installation to ensure IP65 integrity at the cable entry point.
Can the LED be replaced?
The 25W LED is integrated into the fitting and is not user-replaceable. The LED is rated for approximately 50,000 hours of operation (roughly 15-20 years at typical outdoor lighting duty cycles), after which the entire fitting would need replacement.
How many bollards are needed for a typical driveway?
At 200cm tall, the Elbe casts light over a wider radius than standard bollards. For a straight driveway, spacing of 4-6m between bollards typically provides continuous pathway illumination. Curved or turning driveways may benefit from closer spacing at bends.
Is the graphite finish resistant to coastal salt spray?
The powder-coated aluminium construction is designed to resist corrosion in typical UK outdoor conditions, including coastal environments. Periodic rinsing with fresh water (every 3-6 months in high-salt areas) will extend the finish life and maintain appearance.
