Description
The Ecliptus is an 80W constant voltage LED driver designed for 24V DC LED strip lighting and other 24V LED fixtures. The driver converts mains 230V AC input to stable 24V DC output at up to 3.3A, with full dimming compatibility via mains-edge or trailing-edge dimmers installed at the AC input side.
Suited to LED strip installations in retail display lighting, under-cabinet lighting in kitchens, cove lighting in hospitality settings, and residential accent lighting, the driver handles loads up to 80W across one or multiple parallel LED strips. The 295mm length and 45mm depth housing fits within typical kitchen plinths, ceiling voids, and purpose-built driver housings without requiring oversized enclosures. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations where the driver is protected from moisture and dust ingress.
Dimming response is progressive across the full range without visible flicker or stepping when paired with compatible dimmers. The driver includes short-circuit protection, overload protection and thermal shutdown to prevent damage from wiring faults or excessive ambient temperatures. The white plastic housing has screw-mount fixing points at each end and push-fit terminal blocks for both AC input and DC output, allowing tool-free wiring changes during commissioning or retrofits.
Ideal Lux covers the Ecliptus with a 5-year warranty. The driver operates across ambient temperatures from -5°C to +50°C and maintains stable output voltage under load fluctuations, making it suitable for installations where multiple LED strips are switched on in sequence or where strip length varies between zones.

Frequently Asked
What type of dimmer is required?
The Ecliptus is compatible with mains-edge or trailing-edge dimmers installed on the AC input side (before the driver). The dimmer controls AC voltage to the driver, which in turn dims the connected 24V LED strips. Check your dimmer's minimum load rating matches the driver wattage for smooth dimming performance.
Can it power multiple LED strips?
Yes, provided the combined wattage of all connected LED strips does not exceed 80W. Multiple strips can be wired in parallel to the driver's DC output terminals. Ensure wiring is sized correctly for the total current draw (up to 3.3A at 24V).
What does IP20 mean for installation?
IP20 indicates protection against solid objects larger than 12.5mm but no protection against moisture. The driver must be installed in a dry indoor location, protected from water, condensation and dust ingress. It is not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor installations or damp environments.
What is the maximum ambient temperature?
The driver operates across ambient temperatures from -5°C to +50°C. Installation in ceiling voids or enclosed spaces with limited ventilation may require additional clearance or forced ventilation to prevent thermal shutdown under sustained high loads.
