Description

The Ecliptus is a 150W constant voltage LED driver supplying 24V DC output for LED strip lighting, recessed LED downlight systems, and cabinet lighting installations. The driver converts 230V AC mains to stable 24V DC, maintaining consistent output voltage across the connected LED load regardless of minor mains fluctuations.

Designed for residential, retail and hospitality installations where LED strips or multiple low-voltage LED fittings run from a concealed driver location, the Ecliptus fits inside ceiling voids, under kitchen cabinets, behind coving or within false ceilings. The 268mm length and 45mm profile allow it to be mounted in shallow ceiling spaces of 50mm depth or more. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations away from moisture.

The white plastic housing dissipates heat through ventilation slots on the top and sides, requiring a minimum 20mm clearance around the unit for airflow. Screw-terminal connections at each end accept cable up to 2.5mm² for mains input and low-voltage output. The driver handles LED loads up to 150W at 24V (6.25A maximum output current), suitable for approximately 10-12 metres of high-density 24V LED strip or up to 15 recessed LED downlights depending on individual fitting wattage.

The specification table lists this driver as non-dimmable, which means it delivers full constant output and is not compatible with dimmer switches or dimming controllers. For applications requiring dimming, a separate dimmable variant would be needed. Ideal Lux backs the driver with a 5-year warranty covering component failure under normal use.

Frequently Asked

Is the Ecliptus dimmable?

No. The specification table confirms this driver is non-dimmable and delivers constant full output. It is not compatible with dimmer switches or dimming controllers. For installations requiring dimming, a separate dimmable LED driver model would be needed.

What LED load can it handle?

The driver supplies up to 150W at 24V DC, which equates to a maximum output current of 6.25A. This typically powers 10-12 metres of high-density 24V LED strip (12-14W per metre) or up to 15 recessed LED downlights at 10W each, depending on the specific fixtures used.

Where can it be installed?

The IP20 rating limits the driver to dry indoor locations only. Suitable mounting locations include ceiling voids, under kitchen cabinets, behind coving, or within false ceilings. A minimum 20mm clearance around the unit is required for ventilation.

What cable size is needed for connection?

The screw terminals at each end accept cable up to 2.5mm². For mains input (230V AC), use standard twin and earth cable. For the 24V DC output side, cable sizing depends on the run length to the LED load—longer runs require thicker cable to minimise voltage drop.
