Description
The Eclipseax is a 300mm diameter circular outdoor wall light with an integrated 16W LED casting 3000K warm white light behind a matt black metal disc. The LED sits behind the circular faceplate, throwing light out in a halo around the disc's perimeter while the disc itself remains dark, creating a silhouette effect against the lit wall behind it.
Designed for exterior walls on porches, patios, garden pathways and building facades, the Eclipseax functions as both accent lighting and wayfinding. The IP54 rating protects the internal LED and wiring against dust ingress and water spray from any direction, making it suitable for exposed positions including under eaves, beside doorways and on boundary walls. The shallow 80mm projection from the wall keeps the fitting close to the building line without protruding into circulation space.
The matt black powder-coated metal housing absorbs daylight rather than reflecting it, so the fitting reads as a dark circle during the day and transforms into a glowing outline at night. The 16W LED output provides functional illumination across a 2-3m radius on the ground, sufficient for navigation and security lighting without overpowering adjacent windows or garden features. The fitting is non-dimmable and draws power from standard 230V mains wiring, with no external driver box required.
The five-year warranty from Ideal Lux covers the integrated LED, metal housing and IP sealing. The LED is rated for approximately 30,000 hours at 3000K, which equates to around 10 years of typical evening-only use before noticeable output degradation. The fitting weighs 1.2kg and mounts via a rear metal plate fixed to the wall with screws and wall plugs, with the main disc housing clipping onto the plate after wiring is complete.

Frequently Asked
What does IP54 mean for outdoor use?
IP54 means the fitting is protected against dust ingress and water spray from any direction. It can handle rain, garden hose spray and coastal moisture, but should not be submerged or installed where it will be directly hit by pressure washers or heavy water jets.
Can this be used in a bathroom or wetroom?
No. IP54 is suitable for outdoor zones but not for bathroom zones where higher IP ratings (IP65 or IP67) are typically required under UK wiring regulations. For bathrooms, refer to products rated for the specific zone where you intend to install.
How is it mounted to the wall?
The rear metal plate fixes to the wall with screws and wall plugs. Mains wiring connects inside the plate, then the main circular housing clips onto the plate. The 80mm projection from the wall includes both the plate and the disc housing.
Is the LED replaceable?
No. The LED is integrated into the fitting and not user-replaceable. The LED is rated for approximately 30,000 hours, which is around 10 years of typical evening-only outdoor use before noticeable degradation.
